Rico took the tissue and dried her eyes. She saw Heather look at the picture, which had slipped out. She grabbed it quickly and stared blankly at it for a while. She then looked up and focused the same dull gaze on Heather for a moment. She sighed. "It's nothing like that, Heather. I do like her, I want to be friends with her. It's just... I don't want her to come between the bond and friendship Renn and I share. I don't want to loose Renn." Tears came to her eyes once again, but she fought them off. She felt her face growing hotter, and turned herself over on the couch. She tucked her head into her chest, and hugged the picture tighter.

"I see."

Heather said softly, eyes studying Rico's pink face. She scooted closer to the slender girl and held her as Rico started to cry again. She lifted the girl's face so she was looking into Heather's eyes.

"You know, I used to feel the same way about Blake and I. I was always so afraid that one girl was going to sweep him off his feet, and take him away from me. But you know what, the tighter I held on to him, the more he pulled away. Sometimes, Rico, it's when you love them is when you have to let them go. And, at times, when you set them free, they loose their desire to go. Rico, let him go. And become friends with Dawn."

Heather smiled softly at the girl and slowly her fingers moved towards the picture.

"Would you care to tell me who this is Rico?"

She asked softly, having an inkling that it was Rico's father.

Rico stopped her sobbing soon after Heather held her. She wasn't some helpless little girl! She held back from thinking 'like Dawn'. She pulled away as Heather lifted her chin, a dignified look on her face. She listedned to the woman's words. "I..." she began hesitantly, then finished rather patheticly with a, "fine."
Rico held the picture tighter for a moment, but then released it to Heather. She looked ashamed. "My father."

Heather smiled at Rico pensively. Operation healing had begun. Now, she needed to work on Dawn. The girl was probably holding some sort of grudge against Rico, and frankly, Heather didn't exactly blame her. Of course, the woman didn't blame Rico either. Brow furrowed slightly as thoughts flew away with her, then she quickly relaxed. Heather grinned slightly at Rico.

"Your father? He is a very handsome man. Where is he now?"

Heather bit her lip. Nice going bigmouth! She silently abused herself. Obviously Rico wouldn't want to talk about him, and Heather hadn't meant any harm, she was just trying to start a conversation. The girl quickly stammered a slight reply,

"Of course if you don't want to tell me, you don't...
I'm sorry, I didn't mean anything, sometimes my mouth runs away before my brain..."

Heather grimaces, expecting the worse.
